Set up Outlook for Windows (Microsoft 365)

How Outlook 365 (Mail Client) works with your email account servers: Adding an email account to the Outlook 365 app means that your email server folders sync to the app and you benefit from all the great features that the client app gives you (for email, contacts and calendar) compared to using webmail. If you have a Microsoft account (outlook/live or hotmail) you also benefit from having your contact (People) and calendar servers sync as they use ‘Microsoft Exchange’

The areas to get to know are – The vertical bar on the left shows the different applications of Calendar, People, and More apps then the left hand Navigation pane has Favorites then each added email account which expand to show folders (Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items, Deleted Items, Junk Email and more. The very top has the Search box with Menu bar and ribbon below

Add an email account to Outlook 365: Go to File ❯ Add account and enter the type of account then the email address and password

Change Options in Outlook 365 to make it easy to use: To turn on Spell check and text predictions – File ❯ Options ❯ Mail – ‘Compose messages’ and check ‘Show text predictions when typing plus ‘Always check spelling before sending. For clear replies, scroll down and check the ‘Preface comments with’ box in ‘Replies and forwards’ and your name. Scroll to the bottom and click ‘OK’ to save changes
