Manage phone loss

Use ‘Find My’ to turn on ‘Lost Mode’ or ‘Erase This Device’: Tap ‘Find my’ on iPad or go to www.icloud.com and click on ‘Find My’, select iPhone and select ‘Lost Mode’ or ‘Mark as Lost’, add phone number and message as needed or ‘Erase This Device’ (all content and settings will be erased when iPhone connects to the internet. If Find My network is enabled (in Apple ID ❯ Find My), you will still be able to locate the iPhone)

Block the SIM: Contact mobile provider either by phone or through website and request a block on the number to prevent it being used in a different phone for calls and data. If WhatsApp does not have two-step verification it can also be added to a different phone via the SIM

Get a replacement SIM: Contact mobile provider either by phone or through website and request a new SIM for replacement phone

Get a replacement phone: Set up new phone by inserting and activating the new SIM and signing into the Google Account. The Tomtie Tech Check ensures the main phone is backed up

Inform contacts of phone loss: Let friends and family know by email that you have lost your phone

Away from home precaution: If away from home e.g. on holiday, it is best to take a backup phone with essential apps (flights and tickets) set to receive Apple ID verification texts (in Apple ID ❯ Sign-In and Security ❯ Email & Phone Numbers) with a Pay as you go SIM or low cost SIM such as SMARTY
